The Opportunity:
Ever thought about kicking off your IT career somewhere a bit different from the usual office cubicle? This one puts you out in the field — onsite in schools across Melbourne’s Western Suburbs — where no two days look quite the same.
An established MSP with over a decade of experience supporting corporate and education clients is looking for a Level 1 Onsite Support tech to join their team on a permanent, full-time basis. The salary is $60,000 – $70,000 per year, depending on your experience.
What the role actually involves:
You’ll be the friendly face of IT across a group of schools — the person staff and students turn to when something’s not working and they need it fixed fast. It’s hands-on, it’s varied, and it keeps you moving.
Day to day, you’ll be:
- Resolving Level 1 hardware, software, and basic network issues
- Working through helpdesk tickets and walk-up requests
- Setting up and maintaining student and staff devices
- Supporting AV and classroom tech — projectors, Vivi, and similar
- Managing user accounts, password resets, and access requests
- Running routine maintenance, updates, and keeping documentation accurate
- Helping with IT inventory and escalating anything complex up the chain
- Pitching in during exams and school events when extra support is needed
You’ll have onsite parking at every location, a supportive team behind you, and real room to grow as you get comfortable in the role.
You’ll bring:
- At least 1 year of IT support experience
- Solid working knowledge of Windows 10/11
- Comfortable with Microsoft 365
- Basic hardware troubleshooting — desktops, laptops, printers
- Strong communicator, works well independently
- Valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle
- Cert III or IV in IT (completed or in progress)
- Working with Children Check and Police Check (or willing to obtain)
Bonus points if you’ve worked in a school environment before, have a bit of networking or wireless knowledge, or have used a helpdesk ticketing system. None of those are dealbreakers though — attitude and aptitude go a long way here.
The setup:
This is a permanent, full-time role based across school sites in Melbourne’s Western Suburbs. You’ll need your own reliable vehicle to get between locations — the role is genuinely onsite, not hybrid or remote.
To be considered, you’ll need to be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident. Unfortunately this role isn’t open to temporary visa holders at this stage.
What’s on Offer
$60,000 – $70,000 per year, permanent employment, and a stable platform to build your MSP career from. You’ll be joining an organisation that’s been around long enough to know how to look after their people — and their clients.
If you’re early in your IT journey and want somewhere that’ll value your initiative, invest in your growth, and give you genuinely interesting day-to-day work, this is a solid move.
